In June 2023, fans said one last goodbye to the Ted Lasso crew in the season three finale…or so they thought?

Earlier this evening, People chatted with one of the show’s stars, Phil Dunster (aka Jamie Tartt), on the 75th annual Emmy Awards red carpet. When an interviewer mentioned the third season being the Emmy-nominated comedy show’s last, the 31-year-old actor responded, “Well, if it is the final season.”

Hold on a sec, did he just tease a possible Ted Lasso season four?! Dunster tried to downplay what he said immediately. He added, “It's not an exclusive, we just don't know.” Hmm...

For us (and many Ted Lasso fans alike), this news comes as a major bombshell because we were under the impression that the award-winning comedy series was officially wrapped. At first, the writers intended for the show to have a three-season run, but that was before the show became a hit amongst viewers.

In June 2021, Ted Lasso co-creator and star Jason Sudeikis talked to Entertainment Weekly and shared that he saw the show ending after three seasons. “The story that I know is the one that I wanted to tell, and so that’s the one we’re telling with the help of numerous people in front of and behind the camera, so it’s by no means me typing every keystroke and saying every word,” the actor explained to the publication. “It’s nowhere near like that. But the story that’s being told—that three-season arc—is one that I see, know, and understood. I’m glad that they are willing to pay for those three seasons. As far as what happens after that, who knows? I don’t know.”

So, are we getting a Ted Lasso season four or what? Someone get Dunster on the horn.
