Football MVP Cam Newton sits courtside at the Lakers vs. Cavaliers game last night at the Los Angeles Staples Center.

Thursday night, at one of the most anticipated NBA matchups of the season, basketball superstars Cleveland Cavalier LeBron James and L.A. Laker Kobe Bryant, soon to retire, went head-to-head for one final game. (Unsurprisingly, the Lakers lost — even on the team’s home turf.)

Still, despite the action on-court, it was someone on the sidelines who garnered the most attention: NFL MVP (and Super Bowl 50 loser) Cam Newton — he of $12K foxtail key chain fame — sporting a massive, camel-colored “Pharrell” hat.

Made famous by Pharrell Williams at the 2014 Grammy Awards (his was by Vivienne Westwood), Newton’s Arby-esque statement hat was worn casually with a T-shirt and jeans. Needless to say, onlookers were NOT having it — with many taking to Twitter to express their distaste.

And in case you were wondering, no: At press time, Newton (who’s 6-foot-5, as is) had not issued an apology to those unfortunate Laker fans sitting one row behind him — whose view his monumental headgear undoubtedly obscured.
