Pete Davidson's Latest Unexpected Flex? DC Skate Shoes

With the notable exception of Justin Bieber, few celebrities can match Pete Davidson’s skill for looking effortlessly, chaotically cool. The former Saturday Night Live star is the king of scattershot, devil-may-care fits, throwing together streetwear staples, laidback athleisure basics, and elevated swerves—from purple Acne swishy pants to custom-made Ugg boots—with a galaxy-brain panache.

For proof, look no further than Pete’s recent fit outside a comedy club in Philadelphia where he performed a set on Sunday night. Davidson was photographed stepping out alongside new girlfriend Madelyn Cline wearing a sturdy brown Carhartt jacket, an oversized black hoodie, impressively slouchy track pants, a throwback Blockbuster Video tote, and the pièce de résistance: a pair of puffy-tongued skate shoes, a collaboration between DC Shoes and DCV’87, the newish label from pro skater-turned-designer Lucien Clarke. The whole fit was unpredictable yet perfectly cohesive, exactly as we’ve come to expect from Davidson’s style.

The DCV’87 x DC Lynx was first released this past July in brown and black colorways, but the white model Davidson’s wearing here really elevates the silhouette to another level. Combining a classic DC skate model with the luxurious look and feel of a designer sneaker, it’s a collab that could have only been dreamt up by Clarke, the first-ever skater to be sponsored by Louis Vuitton. Unsurprising, then, that a pair of shoes built on that high-low juxtaposition would find its way onto Pete Davidson’s feet.
