Pete Davidson Joked About Public Reaction to His Reported Relationship with Kaia Gerber
During a segment on Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update, Pete Davidson made a rare public comment regarding his reported romance with Kaia Gerber. Although an alleged relationship between the pair has been ongoing, the supermodel and comedian have kept relatively quiet on the status of their possible dating, only fueling rumors with paparazzi snaps of some of their recent outings. Although PDA has served as a springboard for speculation, Pete appeared to somewhat address his part in the duo's dating.
As reported by Entertainment Tonight, Pete joked about public reaction to his recent relationships. Speaking to Colin Jost, who recently got engaged to Scarlett Johanson, he wondered why he received so much criticism when news of his relationships hit the press. "You get to date a famous woman and everyone's delighted, but I do it and America wants to punch me in the throat," he said. "There's a million guys who look like me and I'm the only one who has a job."
The comedian is certainly no stranger to being part of a high-publicity romance. Prior to his reported relationship with Kaia, he had been linked to Kate Beckinsale. The two were spotted locking lips during a March 2019 hockey game, and Pete later appeared to confirm the romantic status of their relationship, saying, "Apparently people have a crazy fascination with our age difference, but it doesn’t really bother us. But then again, I’m new to this." At the time the two were dating, Pete was 25 and Kate was 45. And as many may recall, Pete was previously dating Ariana Grande back in 2019.
We'll have to wait and see whether Pete offers any further romantic-inspired jokes in the future, but in the meantime, it's best to respect the privacy of the couple and the individual lives of Pete and Kaia. Both might live their lives in a very public manner, but that doesn't mean public criticism regarding their relationship is warranted. Ultimately, as long as Pete and Kaia are happy together, that's all that matters.
