Pete Davidson Defends His Relationship with Kaia Gerber on SNL

After months of speculation, it's official, Pete Davidson and Kaia Gerber are a couple.

During a segment on Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update, Pete confirmed their relationship, and he's fully aware not everyone is a fan that they are dating — including Kaia's mom, Cindy Crawford, who is reportedly hoping for their fling to "fizzle out."

Defending his high-profile romance with Kaia, Pete joked about the public's negative reaction while speaking to co-star Colin Jost. When asked by Jost (who is engaged to Scarlett Johansson) if he's dating anyone, Davidson replied: "Yeah, and it’s not fair, Colin. You get to date a famous woman and everyone's delighted, but when I do it, the world wants to punch me in the throat."

"What’d I do? If I’m your type of guy that your daughter or mother is into, then trust me, I’m the best case scenario," he continued. "There are a million guys who look like me, and I'm the only one who has a job. It's like me or Tyga."

Prior to dating Kaia, Pete was briefly linked to actress Margaret Qualley, and, before that, Kate Beckinsale. However, his most publicized relationship was with Ariana Grande, who he got engaged to in 2018.

Recently, Pete and Kaia went from being "just friends" to boyfriend-girlfriend status, after they were spotted making out in Miami. "Kaia and Pete are definitely in a romantic relationship. They have been friends for a while now and run in the same friend circle, but became romantic recently," a source previously told E! News, adding that Kaia thinks Pete is "charming" and that she's "very intrigued."

As long as Pete and Kaia are happy, that's all that matters.
