Pete Davidson Criticized for Gifting His Dad’s FDNY Chain to Ariana Grande

He responded in the best way.

The relationship between Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson has certainly been a whirlwind, going from rumored dating to confirmed engagement in a matter of months. And, while the speed at which they’ve fast-tracked their journey has raised a few eyebrows, it’s Pete’s latest Instagram post of Ariana that truly has haters emerging.

The photo is of Ariana’s neckline, which shows an FDNY pendant chain with the number 8418 on it. It belonged to Pete’s father who tragically died on September 11, 2001 during the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in New York City. He captioned the image with a series of emojis: “💫🌌🌃⚡️💍☁️🖤🗝.”

Pete has the number inked on his left arm and, while Ariana also tattooed a tribute on the top of her foot followers think that wearing his actual chain takes it too far. People Magazine reports that one user commented, “No girl should ever wear your dad’s chain. So disrespectful.” While others joined in on the debate, Pete took to his own comments section to clap back, defending Ariana by saying “For ur information that’s not just some girl, that’s my fiancé.” He went on to write, “She’s the greatest person I know. I gave it to her because she has my heart and that is the most precious thing I own. My dad would be so happy and love her so much.” People also reported that Ariana also commented on the photo, writing, “I love u more than anything.”

Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande have yet to announce a date, enjoying their engagement without any rumors of wedding planning.
