PETA's latest target is the celebrity chef.

Gordon Ramsay is under fire for a recent TikTok video in which he jokingly selected a lamb for dinner.

The infamous chef posted a video of himself creeping up on a pen full of lambs, singing, “I’m going to eat you,” as he climbs up one side of the fence. “MMMM,” he hummed from atop the fence, rubbing his hands together. “Yummy yum yum yum yum yum." Before he fully enters the pen, startling the lambs, he asks, “Which one is going in the oven first?”

Many thought the chef, who’s well-known for not only his love of meat dishes but his vast disdain for veganism, had gone too far with the clip.

“I like you and all but you better not be serious,” one comment read, while another added, “I was today years old when I lost all respect for Gordon Ramsay😳.”

"I'm not even vegetarian but this is very sad," a user commented. “How soulless must you be to find this funny? come on people, we’re better than this,” it continued.

Others found humor in the situation, calling out the sensitivity they perceived in some comments.

“People in these comments need to learn how to take a joke,” said one comment in support of the chef.

“People. We eat meat…..I personally don’t like lamb but I find this amusing,” said another.

“Some people in these comments seem to be clueless on where meat comes from 😂,” one person pointed out. “Bro triggered half the planet 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣,” said another user.

It’s unclear if people are more upset by the idea of the chef picking a lamb to slaughter on video or the fact that he scared the lambs in the pen—which, for what it’s worth, appears to have been accidental due to the instability of the fence. Either way, PETA entered the chat, slamming the chef for the post.

Elisa Allen, the vice president of programmes for PETA UK, told LADbible, "Gordon Ramsay is a callous man who makes a fool of himself: intimidating gentle lambs is loutish, not amusing.”

What would be funny, she says, is if his children went vegan and disowned him, in the same vein as Elon Musk’s daughter. "Those lambs are just babies who want little from life but the chance to live it and not end up in this moron's – or anyone else's – mouth."

Of course, PETA historically has a tendency to overreact—or at least, be accused of overreacting—such as when they called for Pixar to redesign Little Bo Peep in Toy Story 4 or the MLB to rename the bullpen to the arm barn.

The responses to PETA’s tweet were full of both trolls and Ramsay defenders.

“Intimidating lambs?! Jesus H Christ, it maybe crass but Intimidating lambs is outlandish. He doesn't even raise his voice, if anything he was quieter in demeanour than usual,” wrote one.

“I swear I was gonna have pizza for dinner but now I’m gonna get me some delicious lamb. Thanks PETA,” mused another user.

“It’s food millions of people eat everyday get over it,” wrote a third.

As with anything else, the population will never come to complete agreement. Perhaps Ramsay would have been better off keeping the harmless video in his archive. Though the caption appears to have since been edited, Insider reports that Ramsay did originally confirm that no lambs were harmed.
