Pet Rabbit Eating Gigantic Dandelion Is the Moment of Peace Everyone Deserves

Watching animal videos on social media is one of life's simple pleasures, whether you typed in 'baby animal videos' on YouTube or just happened across a video on your TikTok timeline. Animals, especially pets, have a way of making people smile that other humans just aren't capable of, and it's easy to see why cute and funny animal videos are so popular. In fact, I'd be willing to bet they've been popular ever since Internet video sharing was invented!

These days, social media apps like TikTok are just as popular for viewing videos, and they make it even easier for posters and viewers to connect. For example, people from across the world have become invested in one bunny's quest to snack on any dandelion he can get his paws on. Tofu and his owner, who both hail from New Zealand, recently found a positively massive dandelion, and he ate the entire thing in one sitting. I can't decide what I love more: the rabbit's unbothered demeanor, or the satisfying crunchy sounds he makes while he eats!

OMG! I knew Tofu's snack was going to be a giant dandelion, but that truly was the tallest one I've ever seen! I don't blame his mom, @estella.anna, one bit for pulling over while driving just to nab this massive flower (ok, technically, dandelions are weeds). Her pet rabbit sure was grateful for the treat, even if it took him forever and a day to finish it!

Even though most commenters remarked on the infinitely long dandelion stem, one reply from @aurorehg had me smiling from ear to ear. She asked, "I wonder if him getting to the flower part of the dandelion felt the same as we do when getting to that little chocolate core in an ice cream cone." What a happy thought! The chocolate in the cone has been my favorite piece since I was a child, and it definitely was satisfying to get to the most delicious bit at the end. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's how this well-fed bunny feels about the flower head, too!

Rabbits' Diets Include Mostly Hay, Grass, and Leafy Greens

It's no surprise that this hungry rabbit chowed down on the dandelion as if it were the greatest treat. In the wild, bunnies eat lots of grass, hay, leaves, and weeds (including, you guessed it, dandelions). Unless these weeds grow rampant in your yard, however, it's not likely to be part of a pet bunny's regular meals.

Normally, a pet rabbit's diet consists of mostly hay and/or grass. Some rabbit owners invest in nutritional rabbit pellets, too, but these should not replace hay and grass. As you may have guessed, grass and hay are essential to a rabbit's complete diet.

It's also important to give your rabbit a variety of leafy greens for vitamins and minerals, though mixing it up with a dandelion snack is never a bad idea, either.
