Pet Beds Can Make Babies on Flights More Comfortable

Ask any parent and they’ll tell you that traveling with a baby can be one of the most harrowing journeys you’ll ever take.

While some children manage to be excellent flyers right off the bat, lots of parents struggle to keep their kids comfortable and entertained during long flights. But according to one mom, all you have to do to keep your small child happy in their seat is an inflatable pillow and a pet bed, the Metro reported.

Traveling mom Jaimie Anastas shared an incredibly useful hack on Facebook that she discovered while traveling with her daughter, Mila. In order to keep the young girl comfy and quiet throughout the flight, Anastas rigged her child’s seat using a special, inflatable seat extender called The Plane Pal, along with a pet bed, and an inflatable pillow.

“What do you get when you add Plane Pal (Hiding under the pillow) and a $5 pet bed from Kmart to your carry on? You get a very happy baby! Total parent win,” Anastas wrote on Facebook.

The Plane Pal is like an inflatable platform that you place between the seat and the seatback on your flight, so it extends the seat into a makeshift, child-sized bed. According to the Metro, it was invented by an Australian mom of three, Sam Cardone. It’s approved to use on over 50 airlines, which are listed on the nifty invention’s website.

A full Plane Pal kit is $77 and includes the pillow platform, a carrying case, and a pump. If you only want a pillow alone, it's $69.

Anastas also added some extra comfort by adding a basic pet bed, which you can easily get at any home store, or on Amazon for as little as $20. If you’re also looking for an inflatable travel pillow, Amazon also has a highly recommended one for $16.

If you’re not willing to shout out upwards of 70 bucks for an inflatable platform, this hack can easily still work for small children just a small pet bed and travel pillow. Make sure to take note of your airline’s carry on guidelines, though, if you intend to bring a pet bed or Plane Pal with you.
