This Editor-Loved Blazer Is Currently on Sale for Less Than $200 Dollars

Year after year, season after season, I have searched high and low for a classic vintage herringbone blazer that is the perfect blend of timeless details and good fit. And for many years the perfect piece evaded me, much to my dismay. Everything I tried was either too boxy, to masculine, or just not well made. But this season, upon the style resurgence of J.Crew (it's back, in case you haven't heard!) I was very tempted by a number of items, chief among them, the Bristol Blazer in graphite houndstooth.

I typically favor a blazer that veers away from boxy in it's shape, but this piece has made me rethink that belief. It's double-breasted, yet not too wide on the torso, and it hits below the hip without being oversized. All of the menswear details, without losing classically feminine touches. In other words: it's not too trendy and I know that it will remain wearable for seasons to come.

When worn with jeans and a sweater, I have the perfect complement to a fall outfit. Paired with a neutral wrap dress or fall frock, I look effortless in the French-woman-kinda-way (which is always the goal). And despite hesitancy about grey herringbone not working with the majority of my clothes, it pairs beautiful with warm neutrals, browns, and more, but just as artfully with classic jeans. It's not limiting at all in terms of color palette.

And of course, it's not just the visual details. I also appreciate that the wool my trusty blazer was made with was milled at Abraham & Sons, which has been in business since 1837, and can be transparently sourced to their farms in New Zealand.

Some finer details: the gold buttons are firmly attached and the appearance isn't just well made, it appears considerably more expensive than it actually is. All in all, I'll be wearing this piece on a regular basis until we hit warmer temps in the spring.
