Honor Earth Day With These Quotes + Caption IdeasCOURTESY

When you’re celebrating a good friend’s b-day, the truly moral thing to do is drop everything to hype her up sufficiently. I’m a real believer that the same logic should be applied to Earth Day. No, on April 22, we can’t take Mother Earth out for a round of margs. However, there are plenty of ways to show off your love for this gorgeous (severely underappreciated!) planet that houses us all.

Quick thing though: Allow me to just run down the roots (ha) of how Earth Day came to be. Way back in 1970, U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson from Wisconsin started the holiday as a way to bring environmental issues to the national forefront. Twenty million Americans observed the day that year, so it was a pretty successful start. Since then, Earth Day is now recognized in almost 200 countries by an estimated billion people—not bad at all.

So how can you celebrate this day? Picking up litter is a classic, or you can try donating to environmentally conscious initiatives or shopping more sustainable brands. I also suggest reading up a bit about some of the pressing issues concerning our planet rn. Resources like the Nature Conservancy and the United Nations Climate Change Newsroom are great for that.

In the meantime, we’ve got some pretty great Earth Day quotes that’ll have you really feeling all the earthly love. Whether you’re posting an artsy nature appreciation pic on IG and in search of some Earth Day captions or you’re just looking to realign your relationship with our lovely little planet, we’ve got some great quotes to get you in the mood for Earth Day 2023. Read ahead for all of them!
