Perdue Chicken Nuggets Are Getting Recalled for an Undeclared Allergen
Perdue chicken nuggets are getting recalled again, this time for undeclared milk in one product. Just over 16,000 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken nuggets are included in the recall, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. Since the milk isn’t listed as an ingredient on the packaging, it could make those with a milk allergy or intolerance seriously sick.

Just one product is included in the recall: 12-oz. packages of Perdue Fun Shapes Chicken Breast Nuggets with a “use by” date of March 11, 2019, and lot codes 17009010 to 19009010. The recalled products should also have the establishment number “P-369” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Right now, there isn’t any information on which stores the nuggets were sold at, but they were shipped to retailers in 13 states (plus Washington D.C.): Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The problem was discovered when a retail store noticed the incorrect label on the product and notified the company. Perdue then discovered that the wrong label had been printed on the back of the packaging for the chicken nuggets and that the ingredient list for the product wasn’t correct. Thankfully, no illnesses have been reported yet.

If you have any of the recalled chicken nuggets in your freezer, you shouldn’t eat them even if you don’t have any known milk allergies. Instead, the FSIS is urging consumers to throw them out or return them to the store for a refund.
