Remember when we only had a few soda aisle options? Just a few decades ago, you only had to choose between cola, diet, lemon-lime, root beer, orange, or ginger ale.

These days, options abound, and Pepsi in particular keeps pushing the boundaries with its unique creations. (Say what you want about “colachup.” We loved the concept; it reminded us of these saucy, sassy Cola Pork Chops!)

Everything from Peeps to pineapple to maple syrup have inspired recent Pepsi special edition flavors. And as of April 18, you’ll have a couple more flavors to consider cracking open.

Designed to pair perfectly with summer grilling fare, Pepsi Lime and Pepsi Peach will be available nationwide in 12-ounce cans and 20-ounce bottles all summer long.

Why those two fruits, among the many they could pick from the produce aisle? Pepsi deems peach and lime “essential flavors to punch up the quintessential American BBQ,” according to a press release. “The tangy citrus bite of lime and the plush sweetness of a ripe peach are popular and nostalgic summertime flavor profiles.”

In tandem with Pepsi’s classic cola flavors, the sweet, refreshing, and fizzy bevvies are tailor-made to “pair with and enhance the bold, dynamic and smoky savory flavors created on a grill,” Team Pepsi adds.

Much like you might focus on selecting the perfect wine to pair with food, Pepsi is aiming to inspire fans to consider what cola might go best with their meals, and they brought in a culinary MVP for the task.
