People Think Katherine Langford Will Play Hawkeye in "Avengers 4"
It’s only been three days since Katherine Langford’s appearance on Avengers 4 was confirmed on Oct. 26, but there’s already plenty of speculation around her still-unknown role.
Over the weekend, The Wrap reported that the 13 Reasons Why actor was joining the Marvel family in arguably one of the most-anticipated films ever, the fourth Avengers movie. She also has reportedly already finished filming her scenes.
Marvel hasn't yet commented with specifics about Katherine's role, but fans are already speculating on what form her appearance might take.
While at first the character options for Katherine might seem almost endless, there are three that certainly stand out. The majority of fans appear to believe Katherine could be stepping into the shoes of Kate Bishop, a gifted archer in the comics.
According to ComicBook, at one point Kate joins the Young Avengers, “a team comprised of mostly teenaged superheroes who first assembled to combat the machinations of time-traveling supervillain Kang the Conquerer." Kate also takes on the "Hawkeye" moniker after Avengers-era Hawkeye Clint Barton dies.
This time-travelling aspect would certainly fit the mould for Avengers 4, leading some fans to believe this is indeed Katherine’s character. “Katherine Langford already shot her scenes in @Avengers 4, I’m willing to bet it was as Kate Bishop #Hawkeye There’s no doubt @MarvelStudios will produce a live-action #YoungAvengers in the future & the seed of Stature has been planted w/ @EmmaFuhrmann Fuhrmann + Langford,” one avid fan pointed out on Twitter.
Another possibility is that Katherine could play an older version of Ant-Man’s daughter, Cassie Lang. Although actor Emma Fuhrmann was reportedly cast as a teenage Cassie Lang, as ComicBook also pointed out, there are multiple fans who believe Katherine would be as good a fit. “I know there rumors last year of another actress playing an older Cassie Lang but this one would make more sense,” one Twitter user wrote referring to Katherine’s potential portrayal of the character.
Other plausible options might include Morgan Stark, or a future Lila Barton, Hawkeye’s own daughter — since Jeremy Renner, who plays Clint Barton, will reportedly be returning in the film.
Avengers 4 wrapped filming earlier this month and will open internationally on May 3, 2019. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait that long to find out more information about Katherine’s role, but until then, it’s important to take every new detail with a grain of salt.
As one fan pointed out, “Everyone fighting over who katherine langford is going to be in avengers 4 has me WEAK LMFOAJSJS watch her turn out to be some irrelevant barista running away from danger because the hulk destroyed her cafe.”
