When 17-year-old TaJiah Gary posted some pictures of her mom online, she was definitely not expecting the outpouring of admiration the images received. People just couldn’t believe that her youthful-looking mom is actually 46 years old.

“Mom? you look more like sisters,” wrote one commenter. “Is this really ur mother? OMG she looks 20,” added another.

Gary tells Yahoo Lifestyle that her mom, Diana Gowins, is very moved by all the compliments she has been getting online. “She’s really ecstatic about it and really enjoys looking at everyone’s sweet and hilarious comments,” Gary says.

As for how she does it: The 46-year-old mother of three has been an athlete most of her life. She ran track in high school and at one point was even preparing for the Olympics.

On top of staying active and working out regularly, the Atlanta mom and daughter duo have a strict skin care regimen to make sure their skin is always glowing and healthy.

“I’m really big on skin care myself, and I like to make her do my face masks and treatments with me,” says TaJiah.

But what exactly is mom Diana’s secret to looking half her age?

“She says her secret to her youthfulness is that her kids keep her young with all their love,” says the teen. “Seeing us happy doing what we all enjoy doing and her being able to witness our growth and dreams come true is what makes her want to take care of herself and be here longer for us.”

While the family-love idea is a heartwarming one, TaJiah thinks there might be something a little more biological at work: “I think most of it is just good genes,” she says.
