20 People Are Sharing Their Stories About The Weirdest Things That Happened To Them In A Relationship, And I Don't Think You're Even Remotely Ready For Some Of The Things You're About To Read
Meeting new people can always be a really fun time, especially when there's a chance that you can romantically get to know that person. But sometimes, those people can turn out to be very, very strange, no matter how long you've known each other.
So, u/Nova_kat2021 decided to get the real scoop on just how bizarre people can be when they posed the question, "What's the weirdest thing that has ever happened to you during a relationship?" to the r/AskWomen community. And let me tell you, the comments were flooded with stories that actually left my jaw open:
1."I dated someone for years, met, and holidayed with both parents and their current spouses. It wasn't until someone let it slip about a Mother's Day event that I found out his father had told his new wife that his ex-wife had died. She was perfectly healthy and remarried. I was sworn to secrecy by my boyfriend and his sister. Apparently, his dad had made a big deal about his wife dying to the woman he had an affair with, and for some reason, it was up to everyone else to keep up this narrative."
2."A guy I met online but hadn't met in real life yet sent me a small care package, including a 'painting,' which was just an impression of his hand. At the time, I thought it was cute and sweet, and I sent him a picture of me putting my own hand over it. He got SO upset that my hand was bigger than his that he stopped talking to me."
3."I dated a guy who was addicted to League of Legends, and he pooped his pants because he didn't want to get up from his desk to go to the bathroom. Multiple times."
4."I dated this one guy for three months who lied about everything (occupation, age, alma mater, etc.). One of the many lies he told me was that his dad died when he was younger. One day, I found out his dad was actually still alive. I then realized all his bills that I thought were in his name were actually in his dad’s name (they had the same name), and his dad paid all of his bills. This is a 32-year-old man, BTW."
5."I dated a chick who, when stoned, would yell that she was drowning and start screaming and clucking like a chicken. Every time."
6."I was casually dating a guy and a gal. I came to find out that they (1) knew each other, (2) they were dating each other, and (3) they were both cheating on each other with me. I nope'd out of there pretty quick. They kept trying to convince me to take sides."
7."I found a bra under his bed, and he said it was his mom's."
8."I decided to show my ex a photo album, and in said photo album was a picture of my mom in the nude with flowers covering her bits (I wasn’t expecting it to be in there, obviously). A few days go by, and I drop my phone in between the cushions of the couch he’s sleeping on. I felt a tiny picture cut out, and I immediately knew what it was. He was a weird guy."
9."His mom would tuck us in randomly in the middle of the night and take pictures of us sleeping."
10."We had been dating for three months; all was well. We had a dinner for me to meet his parents, and his mom thought that 20 minutes into meeting me was a great time to grill me about how and why my mom died when I was a child. For context, I had legit just discussed it with him the week before in very vague terms. That’s how I found out he was a super mama's boy, but buddy, did I get out of that relationship fast."
11."He got mad at me because he watched a TV show where the guy got cheated on, and somehow, that meant I must've cheated on him."
12."He randomly pulled a gas mask out of nowhere and wanted me to wear it during sex. I actually tried it on because I thought it was a joke and started laughing when I saw how stupid I looked in it. Yeah, it wasn’t a joke, and he was really into women being masked."
13."I went to break up with my boyfriend, and he pulled out a bucket of water from his truck and asked to wash my feet because he was 'as humble as Jesus.' I’m now a lesbian, and he married a girl with my same name who looks like she could be my sister, and they have three kids. Dodged. A. Bullet."
14."My ex wouldn’t shower with soap OR SHAMPOO. Once, he said to me after I told him I got some expensive shampoo and conditioner for myself, 'I just let the water do it.' I was flabbergasted! He had the greasiest, most dandruff-filled hair. This is the same guy who tried to gaslight me into thinking the girl he cheated on me with was only a 'Minecraft girlfriend.'"
15."I went out with a guy once, and he proceeded to stick his tongue in my ear while we were watching a movie in the theater. Like, his tongue was having sex with my ear. It was definitely weird. I nope'd out of that one real quick. Ghosted and never to be seen again."
16."His mom would invite herself over for dinner and show up unannounced after we’d already eaten. Then, she would complain about the food I made her and the fact that we weren’t eating with her because we’d already just eaten. She would also bring Catholic art, memorabilia, and religious iconography and decorate my house with them against my will. I’m Jewish, and she’s not Catholic, nor is her son. I walked into my living room to find a 3-foot-tall crucifix hanging on my wall without my permission. It looked great at the local Goodwill."
17."On our second date, he introduced me to his parents, and then they started planning our summer vacation...NEXT summer. Needless to say, there wasn't a third date."
18."While I was still a student, my boyfriend at the time, who was practically living with me at my family’s house, used to just come in and out as he pleased. After I ended things with him (which he was very against and kept wanting to get back together), I once woke up in the middle of the night and found him sitting by my bed, holding my hand. 💀 I managed to convince myself it was just a dream until I asked him about it later, and he admitted it was real."
19."I had an ex drive 14 hours to cheat on me with his cousin's fiancé. He then told me he only did it because he had 'multiple personality disorder,' which he totally didn’t."

20."I met a guy in college, and we dated pretty casually (but also exclusively) for almost a year. He had a cute accent, which was one of the first things that attracted me to him. I saw him again a few months after our relationship ended, and he had no accent. He faked an accent for a whole year!!! Every day!"
