People Are Sharing The Weirdest "What Did They Just Do?" Moment In Their Relationship, And Some Of These Are Wild

Even if you may have been, or are currently in, a really great relationship, sometimes something will happen that will make you say WTF? So when Reddit user u/Nova_kat2021 asked the r/AskWomen community: "What is the weirdest thing that has ever happened to you during a relationship?" many people came through with their personal stories. Here's what they had to say below:

1."His mom would tuck us in randomly in the middle of the night and take pictures of us sleeping."

a clean, empty bedroom

2."A guy I met online (but hadn't met IRL yet) sent me a small care package including a 'painting' that was just an impression of his hand. At the time, I thought it was cute and sweet, and I sent him a picture of me putting my own hand over it. He got REALLY upset that my hand was bigger than his and stopped talking to me. Lmao."

3."I found a bra under his bed. He said it was his mom's."

4."I was casually dating a guy and a gal. Come to find out that they 1) knew each other 2) were dating each other and 3) were both cheating on each other with me. I noped out of there pretty quickly. They kept trying to convince me to take sides."

5."I dated this one guy for three months who lied about everything (i.e. occupation, age, alma mater, etc.). One of the many lies he told me was that his dad died when he was younger. One day, I found out his dad was actually still alive. I then realized all his bills that I thought were in his name, were actually in his dad’s name; they had the same name and his dad paid all of his bills. This is a 32-year-old man by the way."

6."We had been dating for three months, all was well. We scheduled a dinner for me to meet his parents, and within 20 minutes of meeting me, his mom thought it would be a great time to grill me about how/why my mom died when I was a child. For context: I had legit just discussed it with him the week before in very vague terms. That’s how I found out he was a super mama's boy, but buddy, did I nope out of that relationship fast."

7."I and my ex-husband were separated but on amicable terms. (He had cheated on me but I couldn't forgive him or get over it, despite going to counselling.) As far as I was concerned, I was now single and pulled a very delicious younger man for a night out. I brought him home and we proceeded to get very down and dirty with each other. I'd forgotten (alcohol) my ex had a key to my house (he would sometimes feed my cat while I was away), and he had decided to let himself in that night, presumably to sleep with me? I don't know. Unfortunately, he caught me and the younger man in the height of passion in my bedroom. An argument between us happened, and I asked him to go. The awkwardness after this was palpable. Needless to say, the sex didn't continue with the younger guy, and I drove him home the next day never to hear from him again. Me and my ex never talked about it again (and we are now divorced)."

8."I went to a meet-the-parents dinner at my ex's parents' house. The parents talked a lot during dinner about my ex's brother's accomplishments. Like, a lot, including leaving the table and getting a painting he did that was hanging in a bedroom. It was very awkward."

9."His mom was pushing me to get pregnant and said that if I did, she would raise it. It was beyond bizarre and creepy. He also joked that he was going to switch my birth control out for candy."

10."I decided to show my ex a photo album. In said photo album was a pic of my mom in the nude and flowers covering her bits (wasn’t expecting it to be in there obviously). A few days go by, and I drop my phone on the couch he’s sleeping on, and feel a tiny picture cut out and I immediately knew what it was."

11."He kissed me on the forehead when I was literally pooping. Good memories. Still together after three years."

12."His dad cheated on his mom with a woman of the same nationality as me so she was super xenophobic towards my nationality. She would constantly mock the way I dressed and everything I said. She would throw random tantrums. One time, I was wearing a collar necklace and took it off at his place. She put it on and told her other son to put her on a dog leash and then she walked into the room my boyfriend and I were in and pretended to be a dog! I was so mad I walked out of there and called my dad to pick me up even though it was, like, 11 p.m. at night, and I was meant to stay the night there."

"His mom was such a bad mom in general. She prioritized getting a random degree even though it meant their house would get repossessed and they barely had enough money to eat. She would then proceed to try to make everyone think she is the victim when she was already educated in a very in-demand sector and she could easily have found a well-paid job. For context, we were both 15 at the time so he couldn't have moved out."

13."I went out with a guy once and he proceeded to stick his tongue in my ear while we were watching a movie in the theater. Like he was tongue fucking my ear. It was definitely weird. I noped out of that one real quick. Ghosted and never to be seen again."

14."I started dating a guy years ago during the month of March whose parents lived on some secluded island off the coast of Washington state. Two weeks into the relationship, his parents bought me a plane ticket to go with him and his family to visit them for CHRISTMAS. They didn’t ask me, they just assumed I wouldn’t have Christmas plans. We broke up in October and his sister tracked me down and told me their parents think I should pay for the plane ticket because the ticket THEY paid for WITHOUT my consent is non-refundable. I was much younger then so I said I would pay for half since the break-up wasn’t all on me. That was insane on its own but then my ex broke a months-long, no-contact to tell me he was told during the trip about what had happened, and he was so impressed with me and asked if I wanted to give him another chance. Nope."

15."His mom would invite herself over for dinner and just show up unannounced after we’d already eaten, then complain about the food I made her and that we weren’t eating with her because we’d just eaten. She would also bring Catholic art, memorabilia, and religious iconography and decorate my house with it against my will. I’m Jewish and she’s not Catholic, nor is her son. I walked into my living room to find a 3-foot-tall crucifix hanging on my wall without my permission. It looked great at the local Goodwill."
