People Are Sharing Their Best Ideas for the 'Knives Out' Sequel Title
It was announced recently that Knives Out, one of 2019's best and most popular original films, would be getting a sequel.
The movie's official Twitter account posted seeking potential "ideas" for a sequel title.
The responses were overwhelming, aplenty, and in many cases, actually funny.
One of 2019's best, and most original films was Knives Out, the star-studded whodunit from director Rian Johnson. Behind a fun and compelling story and a cast that featured Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Michael Shannon, and breakout star Ana de Armas, Knives Out has become huge box office success, and even earned Johnson his first Oscar nomination (for Best Original Screenplay). After much speculation, a sequel starring Daniel Craig was officially announced last week, and the movie's official social media decided to have some fun with that.
Not much is known about what the movie actually will be, or who (outside of Craig) will be in it; it's already been stated that the movie will have a new cast, mystery, and setting. But in the earlygoings, why not have some fun? The official Knives Out account took to Twitter, asking fans for a little help. Could they crowdsource a title? We would find out. "Alright we need title suggestions for the sequel! Drop em!" wrote @KnivesOut.

And before we get into anything of substance, we're going to go Memento on you and start at the end: Rian Johnson is reading these. And he's loving them (but maybe stop, so he can focus on writing the darn movie).
I have been reading these all day and gotten zero writing done https://t.co/hx3740K76A

So, first of all, something we can all get behind. After a photo was posted a few days ago from an Oscar event with Johnson and his Star Wars: The Last Jedi star Adam Driver, people were extremely (!) eager for the duo to re-team.

There also seemed to be a lot of support behind Johnson once again joining forces with another key Star Wars player, Domhnall Gleeson.

A common theme for some was making reference to the movie itself; whoever is running the Rotten Tomatoes account made a nice reference to a very great Daniel Craig moment.

Some others made reference to movies of the past, both big and small.

When looking for guidance, it's always safe to turn to the master of sequels and franchising, the eternally legendary Fast and Furious series (now apparently called The Fast Saga!).

The most interesting title, though, is more than just a title; it's an entire conceptual idea for the sequel. And quite frankly, it's fantastic. The tweet comes from Keith Calder, a movie producer behind movies like Blindspotting, The Guest, and You're Next, and his idea sort of plays out a little bit like Knives Out meets Charlie Kaufman's Adaptation meets Seth Rogen's This is the End. And...we are very into it. Very, very into it. Are you reading this, Rian Johnson? Here's your idea.

In the end, though, the reason this took off so much is primarily because, well, it's fun. But also because when there's an original movie that people really love, they'll tend to rally behind it. And with $300 million at the worldwide box office so far, and a greenlit sequel, it's safe to say that the people are behind Knives Out.
