As you may have heard, the highly anticipated Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon premiered over the weekend.

Given how rough the final season of Game of Thrones ended — with MANY fans having mixed feelings about the ending — people were curious whether the GoT audience still had an appetite for returning to Westeros.

Well, the fans have spoken, and it turns out they are very hungry for more, because the House of The Dragon premiere smashed all kinds of records. It became HBO's most-watched original series premiere in history, with nearly 10 million viewers.

For comparison, according to Deadline, the show's debut also topped the Game Of Thrones premiere in 2011 by roughly 350% in terms of viewers...that's A LOT. (Although, in fairness, House of the Dragon had a built-in audience going in.)

Given how controversially GoT ended, fans were also REALLY pleasantly surprised to discover that the first episode of House of the Dragon was good. Like, really good. And they were kinda laughing about the fact that HBO has managed to drag them back into the GoT world...
