  • There was a sound issue at the Democratic primary debate after some moderators' mics were left on, interfering with audio during questioning.

  • Elizabeth Warren fans on Twitter joked that the Massachusetts senator fixed the technical issue herself.

Last night's Democratic primary debate ran into a slight technical issue after the moderators changed over halfway through the program. When it was Rachel Maddow and Chuck Todd's turn to ask the questions, the mics of the previous moderators (Lester Holt, Savannah Guthrie, and José Díaz-Balart) were still on.

Conversations from the hot mics were audible as Maddow and Todd began to ask candidates their first question-which was on gun control-and the sound interrupted the flow of events so much that they had to cut to commercial break. There were some awkward breaks and nervous laughs, but ultimately, the show went on.

"If the control room can turn off the mics of the previous moderators," Todd literally called to the back of the auditorium. After that, you can best believe "control room" became a viral star on Twitter.

The exact specifics of the technical issue weren't revealed, but some Elizabeth Warren fans like to believe that the Massachusetts senator fixed the glitch herself. The candidate was on a roll at the beginning of the night, emphasizing that a successful economy shouldn't just benefit the rich, calling to break up big tech corporations, and assuring that, yes, she does have a plan for dealing with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

According to some Twitter users, she probably had a strategy to repair the microphone issue, too.

Hopefully the sound goes smoothly for the second half of the debate tonight. Or we can just keep Warren around in case anything goes awry.
