People Are Furious with Joe After His Last Scene in the 'You' Finale

From Harper's BAZAAR

WARNING: This story story contains spoilers for You Season 2.

Joe Goldberg really had us thinking he was turning over a new leaf in You Season 2. He moved from New York to Los Angeles, left his past with Beck behind him, and fell in love with a new woman. He's finally becoming a better person, right? Wrong.

As the events in the new season unravel, Joe quickly slides back to his stalking and murdering ways, with chef Love Quinn as the object of his next obsession. However, by the finale, we learn she's just like him: an absorbed, protective killer who takes out people who may threaten her loved ones' safety. She's also pregnant with Joe's child, and the duo end the season starting a new life together; they move into a new house as Love's baby bump is starting to show. So does that mean that these two deranged killers can live happily ever after with their growing family in the suburbs? Wrong again.

The final moments of the Season 2 finale tease what trouble may come if Joe and Love's story continues for another season. As they unload boxes into their new house, Joe heads into the backyard, peers over the fence, and finds a woman reading in the neighbor's yard—his next victim. We don't see the woman's face, but in one close-up on her left hand, we see she's wearing a wedding ring, so this should be fun!

"This is just the beginning ... because this is where I had to be, exactly ... where I had to be to meet ... you," Joe narrates as he looks through the fence. "There you were with your books and your sunshine. So close, but worlds away. I will figure out a way to get you. See you soon, neighbor."

Some viewers took to Twitter to express their frustration over Joe's final scene. He just found his perfect match, is about to become a father, and he's getting distracted by the neighbor?! Read some of the most impassioned reactions below.

Some felt like clowns for being fooled into thinking the season would end on a happy (or at least stable) note.

Others simply jumped to the conclusion: men are trash.
