Kate Middleton is showing off her shoulders in a striking red gown and garnering comparisons to the “dancing lady” emoji.
For Wednesday’s garden party in honor of the queen’s belated birthday at the British ambassador’s home in Berlin, Middleton debuted a $1,900 cherry-red, off-the-shoulder Alexander McQueen maxi dress, which she wore with nude Prada sandals. And according to People magazine, she also wore a pair of Simone Rocha long red earrings.
The Internet loved Kate’s 1970s vibe, and many likened her to the dancing lady emoji, which depicts a woman in a scarlet dress.

Kate, Prince William, and their two children, Prince George (who turns 4 on July 22) and Princess Charlotte, 2, flew in from their two-day stay in Poland, where they met with young entrepreneurs and visited the Stutthof concentration camp.
During their time in Poland, the duchess wore a low-cut white dress by Polish designer Gosia Baczynska (the week prior, she attended a state dinner at Buckingham Palace in a baby-pink Marchesa gown, which also had a plunging neckline).
At the party on Wednesday, Kate enjoyed a glass of champagne and listened to William give a speech on his desire for the U.K. and Germany to be “the firmest of friends” in the aftermath of Brexit.
Earlier in the day, Kate wore a cornflower blue Catherine Walker coat with Gianvito Rossi nude pumps, and her hair in a chignon to lunch with Chancellor Angela Merkel (whom Kate reportedly apologized to for not being able to speak German) and to greet 2,000 adoring fans at Brandenburg Gate.
Will and Kate are staying at the British ambassador’s residence, where George and Charlotte are being cared for by their beloved nanny, Maria Borrallo.
With two more days left in Germany, more glamorous outfits await!
