Countless Taco Bell menu items have come and gone throughout the years—some good, some bad, some iconic (looking at you Nacho Fries). But the Caramel Apple Empanada has remained a staple for 10-plus years now. Or should I say...had remained a staple.

DUN, DUN, DUN.

According to Brand Eating, the empanada was quietly pulled from menus earlier this year. I was initially in disbelief. What horrible, evil exec would do such a thing? I navigated over to the "Caramel Apple Empanada" page on T-Bell's site, but once it loaded, I got a devastating "LOL, the page you were looking does not exist" message. There was even a little running taco taunting me. Not cool.

In case you never had the absolute pleasure of trying one for yourself, let me fill you in: It's a run-of-the-mill, deep-fried dessert empanada, but stuffed with fresh apples and a rich caramel sauce. Pure! Bliss!

A spokesperson for the chain confirmed the news to Brand Eating, saying, "Those were a big hit but exited menus earlier this year, while the Cinnamon Twists and Cinnabon Delights (2, 4 or 12 pack) remain!"

OH, you think that's going to make up for ruining our lives??? Nice try, but no. Twitter is ready to riot.

"Yes hello, the police, can we PUHLEEZ get the caramel apple empanada back at @tacobell bc my heart is breaking," one devastated fan wrote. "WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK @tacobell WHY IS THE CARAMEL APPLE EMPANADA 'DISCONTINUED.' THE PUBLIC DESERVES ANSWERS!!" another tweeted.

Here are more, ahem, passionate reactions:
