From Harper's BAZAAR

Cities around America are celebrating Joe Biden and Kamala Harris's historic win. Following the news that Biden has been successful in his bid to become the next President of the United States, people flooded the streets to share their joy by honking horns, shouting, singing, dancing, and throwing impromptu parties.

After four days, which felt like four years, Biden was finally announced as the president-elect, with Harris becoming his vice president-elect. Harris made history on several counts with her new post. Not only is she the first ever woman to hold the role of Vice President of the United States, she's also the first Black woman and first South Asian woman to be elected as America's VP. Understandably, people across the U.S., and throughout the world, are elated with the groundbreaking and history-making news.

For Harper's BAZAAR's November issue, Senator Harris wrote about what making history means to her. "I hope that by being a 'first,' I inspire young people to pursue their dreams," she said. "The number of times I’ve heard the word 'no'—or that something can’t be done—in my lifetime is too many to count. ... My message to the many women who will continue to break barriers and be 'firsts' in their fields is don’t give up, believe in yourself, and let your talent lead you. And surround yourself with good and supportive friends to keep you lifted up."
