People Are Blasting A Georgia Restaurant For Charging 'Bad Parenting' Fees

For parents who plan on dining at a particular North Georgia restaurant, take note: that kid's meal could cost you a lot extra. According to a menu shared on Reddit this week, Toccoa Riverside Restaurant, a restaurant in the Blue Ridge Mountains, has been hitting unsuspecting parents with a fee if their kids are unruly. The extra "bad parenting" fee is listed on the menu as "Adult surcharge: For adults unable to parent."

Unfortunately for diners, the restaurant doesn't provide details on what they consider to be bad parenting. On top of that, there isn't any information on how much the fee will cost you. But thanks to a Google review posted a week ago, we know that the fee could be up to $50. Ironically, a quick glance at the Toccoa Riverside Restaurant menu shows that the $50 fee is far pricier than anything on offer there.

"The owner came out and told me he was adding $50 to my bill because of my children’s behavior. My kids watched a tablet until the food arrived, ate their food and my wife took them outside while I waited and paid the bill," the review read.

Redditors also seem to be in consensus that the bad-parenting fee along with other extras (share charge, included gratuity) is a bit much.

"If I read this at a restaurant I would probably leave. Charge for unruly kids and a 'share charge $3' like who cares if I wanna share my food once I pay for it?" one person wrote.

Unruly children at restaurants have been in the news a few times recently. A spot in Singapore charges a "screaming children surcharge," and a New Jersey Italian restaurant completely banned children under 10 due to "crazy messes" and "noise levels."
