Pennsylvania Ski Resort Turns On Snow Guns And "Revs Up For Spring"

While the meteorological winter may have ended, Blue Mountain Resort, Pennsylvania, is still working to keep the ski season going.

Today, the resort announced it would fire up its snowguns tonight through Friday "to ensure top-notch spring skiing conditions this weekend."

The resort's webcams show thin patches of snow surrounded by grass, meaning the upcoming snowmaking push will be entirely welcome.

Blue Mountain is closed this week until Friday, when it'll reopen from noon to 8 p.m., according to a press release shared with POWDER. Saturday and Sunday will have operating hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Blue Mountain will see two events this weekend: the Cardboard Box Derby and the Easter Egg Hunt on the Snow. The resort plans to have 12 trails open—more than any other open ski area in the state.

The resort hasn't announced a closing date yet. In nearby Aquashicola, Pennsylvania, rain is predicted for the weekend, which could prove challenging for Blue Mountain. Still, if the resort's proven anything this week, it won't go down without a fight.
