You may have heard of the stamp test, an old-timey way that people with penises could test if they had erectile dysfunction by wrapping a roll of stamps around their willy before bed and count how many stamps were broken by their nighttime erections the next morning. If you experienced 3 to 5 nighttimes erections, identified by the same number in broken stamps, you were considered "normal."

Now UK-based men's health company Adam Health is making a modern version of this test, which could be conveniently called a "Fitbit" for your penis: the Adam Sensor.

This sensor is a first-of-its-kind erection tracker to help you monitor how many erections you get in your sleep. The tracker is ring-shaped and worn around the base of your penis to count your nighttime erections, zero stamps (or false positives) needed.

A sensor like this one could be a great step for diagnosing erectile dysfunction and determining whether the cause is psychological or biological, something that too few nighttime erections could signal.

Of course there are multiple reasons why you could experiencing the less than optimal amount of nighttime erections, including alcohol use, certain medications, or even an illness like Covid. The best way to figure out your erection issues is by talking with you doctor.

Even Adam Health encourages you to use the device beyond tracking if you have ED, suggesting that "abnormal night erections can also be a very important overall health warning linked to cardiovascular disease, diabetes and hormonal issues.

Interested in trying the tracker? Right now, the Adam Sensor can only found in London and recommended by ED specialists, but you can sign up for the waitlist at Adam Health's website.
