A Pender beach town will soon unveil its second public art mural

The town of Surf City’s Beautification and Enhancement Committee will soon unveil its second public art mural.

The mural will get its first showing at the Kinston Avenue Beach Access on Wednesday, May 22 at 4:30 p.m., according to a news release from the town.

Called "A Day at the Beach," it was created by North Carolina based mural artist Jennifer Wood.

The mural, located at Access #19, is one of Surf City’s busiest beach access points, just south of the Surf City Pier.

Wood's mural is the latest addition to Surf City’s public art, which follows the completion of artist David Mercer’s “Home is where the heART is” mural in 2023.

Residents and visitors are invited to join in the unveiling event.
