The stunning Martha's Vineyard estate that Jackie Kennedy Onassis called home is currently for sale for $65 million, and the late first lady's daughter, Caroline Kennedy, is overseeing the listing.
Jackie purchased the 340-acre oceanfront property, known as Red Gate Farm, in 1979. The main residence—a 6,456-square-foot cedar-shingled-style property—includes five en-suite bedrooms and two powder rooms, as well as a chef’s kitchen. The two-story guest house features four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Plus, there's a pool and tennis court.
“Forty years ago, my mother fell in love with Martha’s Vineyard," Caroline said, when asked about her mother's home.
"When she found Red Gate Farm, it was a perfect expression of her romantic and adventurous spirit. The dunes and ponds and rolling hills of Aquinnah gave her the chance to create a world where she could be so close to nature, close to her family and friends, and, most importantly, close to her beloved books. She even built a fairy treehouse for her grandchildren. Those grandchildren are grown so now it is time for us to follow my mother’s example and create our own worlds. We hope that a new family will treasure this place as we have for three generations.”
