Our holiday soundtrack has always included the stylings of the Vince Guaraldi Trio. That’s thanks to the ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ album, which provides sweetly nostalgic music to play during the holidays. Whether we’re trimming the tree, cooking in the kitchen, or wrapping presents into the night, the sounds of the Vince Guaraldi Trio are playing in the background. This year, a special pressing of the holiday album will be released to mark the 70th anniversary of Charles M. Schulz’s comic strip Peanuts.

According to a press release, “Craft Recordings is pleased to announce a one-time vinyl pressing of the Vince Guaraldi Trio’s beloved jazz and holiday album, A Charlie Brown Christmas, which will include a bonus lenticular print of the original 1965 album cover featuring Charles Schulz’s iconic illustration to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Peanuts.”

It’s frequently heard on the radio as well as on the annual re-airing of the A Charlie Brown Christmas special, which appears on television every holiday season. The press release continues, “A Charlie Brown Christmas, certified 4X Platinum by the RIAA in 2016, is one of the best-selling jazz albums in history, second only to Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue; and it’s no surprise—Guaraldi’s engaging score to the synonymous holiday television special has introduced generations of children and their parents to the joys of jazz music, with tracks like the instantly recognizable “Linus and Lucy,” and yuletide favorite “Christmas Time Is Here.”

Side A of the album includes “O Tannenbaum,” “What Child Is This,” “My Little Drum,” “Linus & Lucy,” and “Christmas Time Is Here (instrumental).” Side B includes “Christmas Time Is Here (vocal), “Skating,” “Hark, The Herald Angels Sing,” “Christmas Is Coming,” “Für Elise,” “The Christmas Song,” and “Greensleeves.” The much-loved album has been honored in many arenas. The album is a member of the GRAMMY Hall of Fame, to which it was inducted 2007, and it’s also listed in the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry.

The new pressing of the album will be released on October 9, 2020, and is available for pre-order from Amazon (SHOP: $24.98, amazon.com).
