The reviews are in for James Gunn's latest DC Comics project Peacemaker, and it's amazingly positive.

Shortly after the series debuted on HBO Max, critics have given the show a whopping 93% certified fresh rating over on Rotten Tomatoes, with many praising Gunn's approach to a diabolical yet hilarious character, played impeccably by John Cena. The show's audience score isn't weak either, clocking in at 86%.

"Peacemaker skewers the superhero genre - with respect - and serves up something different; an unconventional, laugh-out-loud romp that's as rude as it is enjoyable," says top critic Randy Myers, while Nerd Reactor's James Nguyen says "James Gunn has crafted a heartfelt, twisted, absurd and violent series with a fun cast and one of the most comical opening intros."

Chicago Sun-Times' Richard Roeper added: "Brimming with references to DC characters such as Harley Quinn and Aquaman and brutally frank jokes about real-world figures, Peacemaker is a James Gunn creation through and through..."

For fans of the DCEU, Peacemaker is now streaming on HBO Max.

Elsewhere in entertainment, season three of The Boys has announced a premiere date with a new trailer.
