Pay it Forward: Feeding the hungry in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Okla. (KFOR) — First Fidelity Bank and News 4 are proud to shine a light on a local food pantry serving the needs of the community in Lexington, Oklahoma.
It’s a family tradition.
Thundering up as the teams flight touches down
The second and fourth Tuesday of every month, you’ll find an army of volunteers boxing up groceries at Circle the Wagons Food Pantry.
Families in need often line up two and three blocks.
The food pantry is a labor of love for Linda Simpson. Her best friend, Debbie Schat nominated her for Pay It 4ward.
“(She’s) the most loving person I ever knew,” Schat said. “She’s selfless.”
Simpson and Schat met in the second grade, and they’ve been friends ever since.
News 4’s Ali Meyer surprised Simpson at the food pantry, as a team of volunteers was packing up boxes of groceries.
First Fidelity Bank paid Simpson $400 for her good work.
“Oh My God! That will buy so much food,” Simpson exclaimed. “I just enjoy serving God. That’s what this is all about for me. He makes the way, and he provides the food and he always has our back and keeps us strong enough to keep going. We enjoy serving the community.”

Simpson partners with the Regional Food Bank to provide hundreds of meals to families in Lexington and beyond.
“We don’t say, show me your income tax return or your electric bill. No, we just try to serve all of the people to the best of our abilities,” said volunteer Joan Adcox. “As long as God keeps providing, you keep going. We have to.”
Simpson’s grown children are regular volunteers. They plan to take over operations, when she is no longer able.
“It’s been a blessing every day. I never leave here feeling worse than when I got here. I always feel better,” Simpson said.
