Paulina Porizkova, 57, Shares Makeup-Free Selfie That Has Fans Inspired

Paulina Porizkova rang in the new year with one of her classic makeup-free selfies.
She used the post to reflect on 2022 and share her goals for 2023.
“In 2023, my hopes are to be able to let go of the past,” she wrote.
New year, same Paulina Porizkova. The supermodel, 57, started 2023 in a way that’s very on brand for her: by sharing a makeup-free, filter-free selfie on Instagram. That said, she used the familiar moment to share new hopes for what’s to come.
In the shot, she wore tousled gray hair and a calm expression. “First morning of 2023, un-retouched, unfiltered and with a slight hangover from a wonderful night with my closest friends and son,” she captioned the post. After reflecting on all the good 2022 brought (including the release of her book, No Filter), she went on to explain her intentions to conquer fears in the new year.
“In 2023, my hopes are to be able to let go of the past. To quit trying to live in it for comfort - even though it hurts and will keep hurting as long as I sit there,” she wrote. “The unknown ahead is scary. So scary, that the pain of the past is preferable. This is what I want to conquer next. My fear of the unknown. To boldly go where I have never been before.”
She continued: “Here is to a new year and the unknown. Here’s to embracing change. Getting wiser, getting older, getting bolder. Happy New Year all of you. ❤️”
As always, Porizkova’s doting fans and followers appreciated her honesty and wished her a Happy New Year. “You have all that is necessary to achieve your goals. Cheers to your journey ahead 🎉,” one person commented. “Wishing you joy and boldness in 2023, dear Paulina❤️,” another added. “Happy New Year! Keep inspiring,” someone else wrote.
In a recent Red Table Talk interview with the Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Norris, Porizkova explained why she doesn’t use filters on her photos. “I make a point of not using filters ever because that’s kind of my thing. I, you know, am trying to represent a woman my age, 57, without filters,” she said.
She added that she always appreciates seeing other women her age presented naturally online, so she likes to uplift others by joining them. “I am so delighted when I see a woman my age that looks like I do. Like, ‘Oh look, you have the same wrinkles,’ or, ‘You have the same little weird wobbly bits here,’” she said, pulling down on the skin between her chin and neck. “And I find it beautiful on them, so I’m kind of hoping to do for other women what some of those women do for me.”
And just because she uploads those selfies doesn’t mean it’s easy—she’s not always comfortable in her own skin. “I have forehead wrinkles, and I have wrinkles here, and all the stuff that comes with being lucky enough to live to 57,” she said.
Although it’s sometimes difficult, Porizkova consistently returns to the celebration of her unique, individual beauty, which means we’ll likely (hopefully!) see plenty more fresh-faced selfies this year.
