Earlier this month, Pauley Perrette left NCIS after appearing on the show as forensic scientist Abby Sciuto for 15 years. While fans were sad to see Pauley go, the actress assured everyone that all was well between her and the network, CBS, and that she was leaving of her own accord. But Pauley's recent rant on social media as well as a subsequent report seem to suggest there might be more to the story-and it allegedly involves her costar Mark Harmon's dog.

Things became a bit murkier when Pauley began posting cryptic tweets referencing "Multiple Physical Assaults," a "'machine' keeping me silent," and the phrase "He did it."

"I feel I have to protect my crew, jobs and so many people," she continued. But at what cost? I.don't know. Just know, I'm trying to do the right thing, but maybe silence isn't the right thing about crime."

Although she did not mention NCIS directly, the timing had some wondering if her words were related to her recent change of employment.

CBS responded in a statement to People, saying: "Pauley Perrette had a terrific run on NCIS and we are all going to miss her. Over a year ago, Pauley came to us with a workplace concern. We took the matter seriously and worked with her to find a resolution."

Pauley replied positively, too: "I want to thank my studio and network CBS," she tweeted. "They have always been so good to me and always had my back."

However, now, a number of outlets including Vanity Fair and IndieWire say that according to The Wrap, a dispute over a dog is the real reason for Pauley's rant. The reports from "multiple individuals familiar with the situation" allege that Mark's dog bit someone on set, and Pauley apparently did not approve of the animal being allowed to return.

This disagreement supposedly sparked a feud between Pauley and Mark, who plays Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs and serves as executive producer. As astute viewers had already noticed, the characters had started appeared in fewer scenes together in recent seasons.

At the time of publication, neither Pauley nor Mark had commented on the report, and representatives for each had not responded to CountryLiving.com's request for comment.
