If there's anything you know about Patti LaBelle, you know she isn't just a great singer, she's also an incredible cook. Though her recipe list includes a number of amazing dishes, including her famous fried chicken and easy mac and cheese, one special dish that I found myself wanting to try was Patti LaBelle's Shrimp Scampi Pasta.

Although shrimp scampi doesn't always include pasta, I think the best versions do, so I was excited to give this one a try. It's hard to go wrong with shrimp, butter, garlic and pasta and I knew I was in good hands with a Patti-created recipe. I felt confident that this recipe would be one for the books, so I headed to the kitchen to give it a try.

Ingredients for Patti Labelle's Shrimp Scampi Pasta

This recipe requires minimal ingredients. You'll only need shrimp, angel hair pasta, butter, grape seed oil, kosher salt, fresh parsley, garlic, cayenne pepper, a lemon and some white wine.

How to Make Patti Labelle's Shrimp Scampi Pasta

In a large stockpot, bring your pasta water to a boil. Add 2 tablespoons of kosher salt before adding your pasta. Cook until al dente, approximately 5 minutes.

Drain the pasta and toss it with grapeseed oil to prevent sticking, and set it aside. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt your butter. Then, add your shrimp, parsley, garlic, cayenne, sea salt and black pepper. Pour in the wine, reduce the heat to low, then cover and cook until the shrimp turn pink, which should take about 6 minutes. Stir in the lemon juice and serve the shrimp over the pasta.

What I Thought of Patti Labelle's Shrimp Scampi Pasta

Recreating this recipe was a delightful experience for me. The simplicity of the ingredients and the ease of preparation made it an enjoyable task that didn't require much effort in the kitchen. It proved to be an excellent choice for a weeknight dinner.

While it seems like an everyday pasta recipe, adding the wine to the mix—in addition to the flavorful combination of the other ingredients—elevated the flavors, and covering the skillet allowed the shrimp to cook to a perfect pink hue in just 6 minutes. The final touch of lemon juice added a zesty and refreshing twist to the overall taste. Not only did this recipe deliver a delicious outcome but also made the cooking process a fun and hassle-free experience. Patti does it again!

Tips for Making Patti Labelle's Shrimp Scampi Pasta

If you're in a rush, buy precooked shrimp instead. This makes the process a little easier so you don't have to worry about overcooking your shrimp and it saves you time.
