PATRISSE CULLORS: I went on social media looking for answers, connection, resolve, reprieve.

ALICIA GARZA: I woke up in the middle of the night. I started writing some stuff on Facebook. Then, I wrote that I love Black people-- I love us-- and that our lives matter. Patrisse read it, and I believe she put a hashtag in front of it.

PATRISSE CULLORS: When I put the hashtag, she definitely was like, what was that? And I was like, this is-- we're going to make this thing go viral.
