At just 1 year old, Bronze Mahomes has already mastered the art of watching sports at home.

On Thursday, former professional soccer player Brittany Mahomes treated her Instagram followers to an adorable video of her infant son, whom she shares with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The 16-month-old was posted up in front of a TV, on which the family was watching the NCAA basketball game between the Oregon Ducks and South Carolina Gamecocks.

Just before one of the players attempted to make a basket, Bronze let out an excited squeal and enthusiastically threw his arms over his head — proving once again sports run in this family’s blood. “This kid loves ball 😂,” Brittany captioned the giggle-inducing clip.

Bronze and his big sister Sterling, 3, are the latest generation of the Mahomes family to express an interest in sports. For her part, Brittany competed in collegiate soccer for the University of Texas at Tyler before going on to play professionally with Iceland’s UMF Afturelding club. Though she retired from soccer in 2017, the mom of two has since pursued a career in personal training, co-founded the Kansas City Currents women’s soccer team, and recently opened the world’s very first women’s sports stadium.

Patrick, of course, is revered for his impressive college career with Texas Tech, and more recently, his NFL domination with the Chiefs — a team with whom he’s won three Super Bowls. The quarterback is also a 3-time Super Bowl Most Valuable Player award recipient, 2-time NFL MVP, and the only quarterback in history to throw for more than 5,000 yards in a single season in both college and the NFL. Patrick’s father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., also enjoyed an 11-season career as a pitcher for the MLB.

During a recent exclusive interview with SheKnows, Brittany dished more details on her son’s early love for all things ball. “Bronze is definitely a sports guy,” she began. “You give him any type of ball and he will have the time of his life. He loves basketball. He loves football. I mean, we took him to the park recently, and he can spot a ball from a mile away and he’ll sprint to that ball and play with it until he’s tired,” the retired soccer star shared. She jokingly added, “So I definitely think he’s gonna like sports.”

Given his family’s impressive lineage of top-level athletes and his super early fascination with sports of all kinds, we’d have to agree!
