Patricia Clarkson candidly spoke about her decision to live a child-free lifestyle in a conversation published earlier this week.

While appearing on Tuesday's episode of the podcast Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi, Clarkson began by calling Chelsea Handler her "hero" for being so outspoken about not wanting to become a parent.

"I'm a 63-year-old single, straight, Southern woman who never married and never had children," she said. "Come to our house one night and see just how unhappy Chelsea [Handler] and I are."

In the interview, which was recorded before Hollywood actors went on strike, the Sharp Objects actress went on to explain her decision never to have kids was one she made early on in her life.

"I made a big choice," Clarkson admitted. "But I knew it when I was young."

The Easy A alum continued, "I've had beautiful men in my life and I've thought about it with this one artist I dated when I was 38; I had a window to have a child. But at the end of the day, I loved working."

Clarkson said she had "great parents who sacrificed everything for me," raising her to understand that "you have to really be committed to having children to be a great parent."

"I was afraid I couldn't be [committed to having kids]. And didn't want to fail at being a parent," she confessed. "I'm fine failing as an actor."

Her parents weren't so concerned about her failing as they were that she "would wake up at 50 and be unhappy."

To which she revealed, "I woke up at 50 in stilettos and a thong," adding she's had a "great, sexy" life.

Elsewhere in the conversation, the Golden Globe winner further solidified that she made the right decision, sharing that she loves being an aunt just as much as acting.

"I have so many sisters who have beautiful children and they now have beautiful children. I love being an aunt. I love it, probably, more than acting, which is odd," Clarkson said. "OK, they're on par. But I'm telling you, these are gorgeous children but that doesn't have to define every woman."
