Patricia Arquette’s Story About Going on a Date With a Now Convicted Murderer Is Wild

Patricia Arquette's awkward date story is proof you need to trust your instincts.

After a Twitter prompt asked users to share their most awkward dating stories, The Act star revealed she once went on a date with a pro skateboarder who would later be convicted of murder. 

“Second date. Pro skateboarder. Really cute. Friends with my friends,” Arquette tweeted on April 13, presumably listing all the reasons she went on the date to begin with. “We made out, but something about how he kissed me freaked me out. I gave him a fake number. Years later he killed his girlfriend.”  

In a follow-up tweet, Arquette confirmed that the skateboarder in question was Mark Rogowski, who confessed to sexually assaulting and murdering 22-year-old model Jessica Bergsten in 1991. (Just for clarification's sake: Bergsten wasn't Rogowski's girlfriend. She was actually the best friend of his ex-girlfriend, Brandi McClain.)

When asked what about the kiss raised red flags, Arquette replied, “It felt aggressive. Like pushing me back hard with his jaw and it felt like it was angry.”

When one user simply replied “Jesus,” Arquette said, “And my daughter thinks I'm overprotective.” Listen to your moms, my friends. They know!

Patricia Arquette has two children: 18-year-old daughter Harlow Olivia Calliope Jane and 32-year-old son Enzo Rossi. She split from Thomas Jane in 2011 after five years of marriage; prior to that, she was famously married to Nicholas Cage from 1995 to 2001. 

Arquette shared on Twitter that the “moral of the story” is to “trust your instincts,” according to People. That's a good advice to heed, single people—and people in general.  If you go on a date—or meet a new friend, etc.—and something feels off, it probably is. 

After hearing this tale, I may need to delete my dating apps just for a few days.
