Pat Sajak

Pat Sajak has never been afraid to tell contestants like it is, and Sweethearts Week of Wheel of Fortune proved to be no exception.

The longtime host of the beloved game show had no problem teasing contestants and married couple Trent and Christy, who missed out on solving a seemingly straightforward puzzle during the Valentine's Day episode on Wednesday, Feb. 14.

The Ohio couple—who have been married for 32 years and share three children together—were prompted with a two-word puzzle that featured the letters, "_N_ _ GEM_NT  _IN_," a clue that appeared to be fairly obvious.

But Christy and Trent came up with the response "Investment Firm," which didn't even fit into the letters already on the board. The answer was ultimately guessed correctly by their competitors Joe and Amy, who chimed in to say, "Engagement Ring."

Sajak, 77, couldn't help himself from teasing Trent and Christy for the major flub, telling their competitors, "You were romantic; they were just practical."

And Sajak clearly wasn't the only one who got a kick out of the pair's epic fail, as some users online also had to laugh at Trent and Christy's blunder.

"Couples Night on Wheel of Fortune and some lady just guessed “Investment Firm” instead of “Engagement Ring” lmao!!" one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"'Investment firm' LOL sweetheart week so romantic," someone else sarcastically added.

But fortunately for Trent and Christy, they didn't go home with their hearts completely broken, as they still managed to rack up $8,000 in earnings during Wednesday's episode.

Love birds Joe and Amy did, however, advance to the Bonus Round, winning $19,800 in cash, plus a trip to the Bahamas.
