Pat Sajak Talks 'Realistic' Life Plans After 'Wheel of Fortune' Exit

After announcing his retirement from Wheel of Fortune earlier this week, Pat Sajak is shedding some light on what his life will look like after leaving the famous game show.
Sajak has been the host of WoF for over 40 years now, and he will officially be stepping down from his longtime role after the show's 41st season, which begins airing in September.
During a new interview with Hawaiian newspaper KHON, the 76-year-old TV personality talked about his future plans, while prefacing, "I'm realistic enough to know the people aren’t gonna be banging my door down."
"But I’ll take projects if they come," he insisted, assuring he isn't done working just yet. "But I suspect most of my time will be whittling on the front porch, but I don’t know how to whittle and I don’t have a front porch so that'll be a challenge."
While talking about his decision to retire, Sajak said "It's a celebratory mixed with melancholy."

"I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. I’ve known that this was coming and I talked about it with good friends and Joe [Moore] and my family. So I’ve had time to get used to the idea. It’s not like I woke up the other day and said you know it’s over. So there’s that. But it’s mixed emotions sure."
Since the news of Sajak's retirement was announced, there has been no shortage of burning questions about who his replacement will be. Parade has already concocted a list of possible celebrity contenders who may be fit to take on the gig.
