Alex Trebek Just Gave 'Jeopardy!' Fans a Health Update Amid Cancer Battle

In light of wrapping up season 35 of Jeopardy!, Alex Trebek decided to give fans an update on his health, after announcing that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in early March. In a newly released video, Alex says that he's doing well.

"Despite what you may have heard, I'm feeling good, I'm continuing with my therapy and we, by we, the staff, is already working on our next season, the 36th year of Jeopardy!" he explained to the camera. "I look forward to seeing you once again in September with all kinds of good stuff."

He also took a moment to thank fans of the show for their words of support.

"So here, on the last day of taping for our 35th anniversary season, I wanted once again to thank you for your continuing messages of encouragement and support, particularly the many cards I've received from young people. I'm touched beyond words."

On Wednesday, Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek announced on a video message that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

While revealing his diagnosis, Alex, 78, expressed that he plans to keep hosting the program and asked Jeopardy! viewers to help him "keep the faith." Alex has been the host of the gameshow since 1984.

"Now, normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I'm going to fight this, and I'm going to keep working, and with the love and support of my family and friends, and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease," Alex declared.

Immediately, so many Jeopardy! fans began to rally around the gameshow host, offering up kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Among those was Cher, who said she was a huge fan of the show for years.

"Sending Love & Prayers To Alex Trebek. I’ve Been Playing JEOPARDY With Him Since I Was In My 20’s ..Ahhh .. 30’s, Hhmm…40’s,..50’s, OMG..60’s I’LL NEVER BE TOO OLD TO PLAY," she tweeted.

Some of Alex's old Celebrity Jeopardy! contestants also began speaking out about their experiences on the show.

"Who is an extraordinary human being, gracious, a consummate professional, a gentleman, a kind soul? Final Answer: #AlexTrebek," CNN commentator and The View co-host Ana Navarro-Cárdenas wrote on Instagram. Her co-star on The View Sunny Hostin also tweeted a sweet message about her time competing on the show. "He made me feel like a winner. I'm rooting and praying for you Alex!"

Emotional messages also came from other big-time TV names, including longtime friend and Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak.

"The Sajak family is deeply saddened to hear of Alex Trebek’s struggle with cancer. Our hearts go out to him and his family. But there is no one I know who is stronger and more determined, and I would never bet against him. We, and the entire country, are pulling for you, Alex," Pat tweeted.

American Idol and Live with Kelly and Ryan star Ryan Seacrest also had nothing but nice things to say about the TV icon.

"You are one of the greatest leaders and class acts in show business. Your level of grace, even in the face of adversity, is admirable and second to none. Stay strong and keep the faith, Alex. We are with you all the way!" Ryan said.
