Yahoo Lifestyle would like to introduce you to The New-New, a column by Beauty Director Dana Oliver on the latest products, tools, and treatments on which she’d happily spend her hard-earned money.

I love a good liquid matte lipstick, but my biggest complaint when it comes to wearing this product is that it makes my lips even drier. Lip scrub or moisturizing balm can certainly help solve this issue. However, am I asking too much to simply wake up in the morning, apply a matte lipstick, and for it to remain smooth throughout the day? Not according to Pat McGrath.

The beauty legend’s latest launch, LiquiLUST007, is without a doubt the most comfortable liquid matte lipstick I’ve ever worn.

McGrath first hinted that she was working on something new during Paris Fashion Week, uploading seductive images and videos to Instagram of perfectly painted pouts. Well, my wait for velvety-smooth lips is over now that I’ve got my hands on samples from Pat McGrath Labs.

Packaged in sleek yet simple lacquered tubes, LiquiLUST007 is available in six dynamic matte shades ($38 each), ranging from a mauve-pink to a deep eggplant. Like a true artist, McGrath also offers kits ($75) that include her signature shimmery microfine pigment and clear gloss that can be worn on top of the lipsticks or alone. However, I’m sure diehard beauty fanatics will add the Everything 9-piece kit ($150) to the top of their holiday wish lists.

Staying true to my admiration for in-your-face lip colors, I tried LiquiLUST007 in Nightshade and Revelation Red. I must confess that I didn’t exfoliate my lips before application. Instead, I massaged on just a tiny bit of Fresh’s Sugar Lip Caramel Hydrating Balm and then put on the liquid matte lipstick.

While the product is absolutely buildable, I appreciate how highly pigmented the shades are with just a single swipe. My managing editor, Laura Kenney, told me she couldn’t take her eyes off the combination of my rich purple lip and navy turtleneck. I was giving a look! Finding a red lipstick that looks good on my deep skin tone isn’t easy, but McGrath has also crafted a true blue-red that’s my new boo.

The real test came when I ate an everything bagel with tofu spread, and I can report that the lippie passed! It also withstood my drinking lots of water through a straw, and when I tell you that it didn’t make the skin on my lips chapped or flaked, I’m not lying.

If you haven’t joined the liquid matte-lipstick bandwagon, I suggest you hop onboard quickly with Pat McGrath’s runway-to-real-life take on the trend.

Pat McGrath Labs Limited-Edition LiquiLUST007 ($38-$150) will be available Nov. 16 exclusively on patmcgrath.com.
