Tom Brady's TB12 program might have proven popular among some fans of the GOAT quarterback, but Pat McAfee does not count himself among them. In the latest episode of his podcast The Pat McAfee Show, the former NFL punter turned WWE commentator described what sounds like a pretty excruciating experience during a recent TB12 massage session ostensibly designed to aid recovery and pliability.

"Those massages are terrible," he said. "I did it one time, and the next morning I was sore in places I didn't know I had fucking muscles. He was rolling and working on all these muscles that I didn't know I had nor needed... The next day I couldn't even fucking move my foot, like, I'm never doing that again... I'm soft, I think."

"The juice has not been worth the squeeze here," he continued. "I've been sore for 48 hours... You've got to stick with it, or whatever. I would get some flushing massages through my career there, and that was something I would do, but some of those... If Tom's getting that shit every single day, like [Adam] Vinatieri... The people who are super high end athletes, they get all that shit."

Of course, not everybody is an elite athlete with the resources to afford regular massages—but even infrequent sessions can have a positive impact. "There are all sorts of benefits to massage," Rebecca Kordecki, a massage therapist who has worked with actors like The Rock and Dolph Lundgren, told Men's Health. "I think improved circulation is one of the biggest, really. Anyone can benefit from improved blood flow in their body."

"Professional athletes like a very deep sports massage for obvious reasons," she added. "Maybe they have an old injury, and we’re working to keep it supple and the scar tissue broken down. Others might just have tight muscles that need loosened up."
