Part of the Elusive Olsen Twins Film Archive Is Coming to Hulu

Right before Easter, we are blessed to learn that another great revival is happening: At least part of the elusive Olsen film archive will return to Hulu.

After Full House and before The Row, there was a shining era in which the Olsen twins were incredibly prolific movie stars, making no less than 18 films before their official retirement from acting in 2012. Now, right before Easter, we are blessed to learn that another great revival is happening: At least part of the elusive, much-asked-after Olsen film archive will return to Hulu.

Beginning May 1, according to TV Guide, Mary-Kate and Ashley’s cinematic greatness will again be on full display in three Olsen twins movies including Billboard Dad (1998), in which the twins brilliantly plaster their widower dad’s dating ad on a Santa Monica billboard; Passport to Paris, a 1999 time capsule costarring all the baby tees and chokers you could ever want; and Switching Goals, another 1999 Olsen classic in which the then-13-year-old twins devilishly swap identities on their dad’s soccer team! Of course, every film carries the hallmark of the signature Dualstar (the Olsen production company) oeuvre: At least one twin has a cool, traditionally male name (think Dylan or Charlie); no twin ever goes without a love interest, even on vacation; and nothing bad ever, ever happens.

Thrilling though today’s news—and other news—may be, I won’t be content until the epic romp that is New York Minute is readily available, but at least it’s a welcome start. (Dualstar could, of course, just start its own streaming service composed entirely of Olsen twins movies and television shows . . . )
