Parrot Has Entire Conversation With Her Mom Who’s Leaving To Go Shopping

Listening to birds talk is always such a cool thing to hear. I love the way they mimic voices, sounds, animals, and other things they hear in their homes (whether that's in the wild or in a real house!) @Cosmo is an African grey parrot with a lot to say. She's got a very extensive vocabulary, and it's fun to watch her. Her mom shared a video in mid-November of a conversation they had, and wow! It seems like Cosmo knows when and what to say when it comes to shopping!

Cosmo's mom is getting ready to go to the grocery store. She gets Cosmo all situated by turning on cartoons for her. Cosmo has all kinds of questions for mom, and mom patiently answers them all. The whole thing is pretty incredible!

@Cosmo's video has more than 4.5 million views and thousands of comments because people really like to see parrots talk and interact with their humans. @PerttyKam admitted, "I still can’t wrap my mind around talking birds and I’m 48". @Melissa Silber agreed, "This is far too reminiscent to a conversation with a toddler - I don’t think I could handle a talking bird LOL!" @MurphysLaw shared a funny story, "My grandparents' African grey would say, "Help I’m in jail call my lawyer” when he was in his cage. His name was Mr. Hyde lol"!

Do Parrots Make Good Pets?

Commenter @Tegan shared, "My friend's parrot would scold the dog". I grew up with a parrot, and he did that too. He also called the cats, yelled at us kids and knew our names, sang and whistled (Old McDonald is his favorite), and talked non-stop. He rang like the phone, cried like a baby, and laughed just like my dad. My parents still have him, and he's now 48, the same age as my youngest sister. He's like my 5th sibling! So I may be biased, but yes, I think parrots make amazing pets. They're intelligent, inquisitive, and love to be social. African greys and amazon parrots are some of the chattiest birds out there, but I think the amazon parrots are prettier.

If you're considering getting a parrot because you want to teach it to talk and interact, know that they are loudmouths! Once they get going, it can be hard to quiet them down. It might seem like a talking bird would be a lot of fun to have around, but it's actually like having a toddler in the house. All that being said, I still think that these birds would make an excellent addition to families looking for a fun pet.
