Park rangers visit Reynolds Elementary School

Apr. 18—REYNOLDS — The students of Reynolds Elementary School recently had a chance to learn from a pair of park rangers.

Reilly Frable, who is also a Reynolds graduate, and Hannah Smith are both natural resource specialists and park rangers for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Shenango Lake. They visited the school to share some of their experiences with the students, Title I Reading Support Teacher Jennifer Blasko said.

Some of the topics discussed by the two included the daily tasks, responsibilities and duties of a park ranger.

Frable and Smith also showed the students skins and skulls of native and local animals found in the region, and shared water safety information with the students, Blasko said.

The students were encouraged to get their families and go outside to explore nature and historical sites. The fourth graders were even awarded an America the Beautiful 4th grade pass, valid through Aug. 31, for entrance into federal recreation sites.
