Over the weekend, Paris Jackson shared a photo to her Instagram wearing a form-fitting Jean Paul Gaultier dress, and it's drawing a lot of attention online.

Paris wore a brown dress with an image of a woman's nude body on the front, including breasts, a long torso, and shading of pubic hair.

The post was accompanied by an audio recording of a conversation about body shaming. The sound was made popular on TikTok and Instagram Reels, and says:

Person A: "I can see your nipples poking through your shirt."

Person B: "Okay."

Person A: "You should put a bra on."

Person B: "No."

Person A: "Why not?"

Person B: "Is it a secret I have nipples?"

For those unfamiliar with Jean Paul Gaultier's work, this imagery is nothing new for his designs. He's highlighted the human body in many forms in his pieces, and this dress just happens to be one of the latest.

Well, despite the designer's long history with that style, Paris still received mixed reviews in her comments. There were those who applauded the look:

This is very well made :) people get so easily offended by the female body, even when it's just a print on clothing

Another commenter added that Paris's body is technically completely covered:

While someone else thought Paris was helping stand against the constant policing of women's bodies:

I've literally worn 100% not revealing not "sexual" clothes and still gotten accused of not wearing properly. Way to go Paris! Break the boundaries for us

But there were also many people who believed the dress was inappropriate for the actor/musician to wear. One person claimed the dress left nothing to the imagination:

Is there a point to this dress? And when do we start leaving things to the imagination versus having to see everything on display? Sorry Paris this outfit was a flop

Another commenter wasn't impressed with images like these being easily accessible for their young daughter to see:

Art is fine...but my 6-year-old daughter doesn't need to see nude bodies. Keep this away from the kids and keep it on a runway for only adults

Complaints continued to pour in, from "just because you can, doesn't mean you should," to this comment that alleged Paris needs someone in her life who actually cares "about her well being":

This is not a good look [side-eye emoji] it's vulgar but she is not my daughter she needs someone to talk to and care about her wellbeing!

The debates taking place in her comments seemed to become a little too much for Paris, so she limited the amount of people who can respond to the post.

And although she didn't address any of the backlash personally, she left the situation with one final thought on her Instagram story, by sharing this video:

Do you, Paris! And do it well!
