Though the actual origin story between Paris and Carter is unknown, we *do* know they happened to reconnect in 2019 thanks to Carter's sister, Halle Hammond, who invited them both over for Thanksgiving. “I've known him for 15 years,” Hilton revealed to People later on in September 2020. “Then [Halle] invited us to Thanksgiving and we just had this incredible chemistry. Carter proved to be the ultimate partner as he stood alongside Paris while she testified to the Utah Senate Judiciary, Law Enforcement, and Criminal Justice Committee regarding the physical and psychological abuse she endured as a teenager.
“Talking about something so personal was and is still terrifying,” Paris reportedly told the committee. “But I can not go to sleep at night knowing that there are children that are experiencing the same abuse that I and so many others went through, and neither should you.”
At the time, a source also disclosed to People that Paris “is so grateful that Carter joined her on the trip to Utah. She was so nervous to get up there and say her testimonial, but having him by her side made her feel much more comfortable.”

During an On Air with Ryan Seacrest appearance, the DJ spilled all the deets on her truly massive (read: expensive) diamond ring, which was “inspired by the Grand Palais in Paris.” Carter designed the stunning 💍 with jeweler Jean Dousset, who just so happens to be the great-great-grandson of renowned French jeweler Louis Cartier.
“It's called The Paris. I'm so obsessed with it…it has like 15 diamonds going around and then inside it has a 'P' with a sapphire,” said Paris.
On the celeb's own podcast This is Paris, her sister Nicky Hilton recalled that Carter had asked for her blessing the morning of the proposal. “So, we were at lunch and you got up from the table to go and use the bathroom, and he got up and came and sat next to me and said, 'I have two quick questions,'” Nicky began. “Number one: Will you give me your blessing to marry Paris?” she said, adding that Paris's now-husband also asked if it was possible to have the Hilton family celebrate the engagement on the beach afterwards. “I quickly said yes to both and we got dressed and we were down hiding in the beach,” Nicky gushed.

Paris also opened up about the significance of getting married on November 11, aka “11:11.”
“11:11 has always been my favorite time of day...It's my reminder to make a wish and be open to miracles. This date is special to Carter and I—it represents our love story, which both of us knew was meant to be,” she recounted to Vogue. Plus, it also served as an homage to the celeb's new media business. “On top of wedding planning, I launched my new media company, 11:11 Media, this year and am in the process of filming and producing a TV show with Peacock called Paris in Love...Thankfully, my mom and groom had a lot of opinions on the planning, so I let them take the reins,” she said.
