My Parents Swear by This $30 Throw Blanket — and It's from a Surprising Place

I’m obsessed with blankets. I have them folded on both arms of my sofa, at the foot of my bed, and draped across my Plufl. My dog even has a collection of lap blankets that I keep stacked up in my living room credenza. But even though I’ve accumulated quite the collection, I’ve never found a faux fur throw blanket that I’ve actually loved. That is until my parents influenced me to buy an under-$30 version from Sam’s Club.

I can always count on my mom and dad to have the latest and greatest finds from Sam’s Club. They’ve been loyal customers for decades and know a good deal when they see one. But, when I walked into their living room on a recent visit and saw the fluffiest, most gorgeous faux fur throw, I thought for sure it was another one of my mom’s favorite Pottery Barn versions. Instead, her eyes widened with excitement, and she squealed, “It’s from Sam’s Club!” My jaw dropped. I had to have one.

Faux fur throw blankets are tricky. While they look gorgeous on the first day, the material usually ends up matted or stringy. And in my experience, they’re just never the same after you wash them — and when you live with a dog who thinks all blankets belong to her, you clean them a lot. I can’t even count how many faux fur blankets I’ve tried and then donated to an animal shelter after the first wash. Luckily, my mom had already run hers through the washer and dryer several times, and said it was the exact same as when she first bought it.

$29.98 at Sam's Club

Officially called the Member’s Mark Faux Fur Throw, I’m honestly shocked this Sam’s Club find is still in stock online. The 60×70-inch blanket is 100% polyester and looks like a luxe fur throw for much less: $29.93, to be exact. I bought mine in ivory to go with my furniture and living room aesthetic, but it also comes in camel brown, taupe, and dark gray. Best of all, the blanket is machine-washable. I put it in on a regular cycle and dry it on a medium heat setting, and it comes out as good as new every single time, though it does get a little staticky right out of the dryer.

Curling up with this Sam’s Club faux fur throw blanket immediately cozies up your space in the winter. Still, it’s lightweight enough to use all year round — I live in Los Angeles and love snuggling up in it while drinking tea and working on a crochet project in the mornings. It’s reversible, too, so if you want to switch it up, you can fold it on its micro-mink side, which has a soft velvet feel. Trust me (and my parents) on this one; this little luxury will definitely upgrade your blanket collection.
